Glyn Corbitt began his career in 1991 with the Macon Police Department (Georgia). While employed with Macon PD, he served as a full-time Patrol/Field Training Officer. During his tenure, he was able to acquire General Instructor Certification and Specialized Instructor – Emergency Medical through Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (GA POST).

In April of 2001, Glyn accepted the position of a full-time instructor with the Georgia Public Safety Training Center. He obtained Specialized Instructor – Defensive Tactics; Specialized Instructor – Driver Training; Specialized Certification as a Senior Training Instructor; and, a Career Development Certification – Supervisory Certificate; all from GA POST. Glyn’s duties at the time primarily included instructing veteran officers of use of force, specifically defensive tactics.

Outside of his initial duties, between the years of 2001 and 2004, Glyn was assigned the position of Scenario Coordinator with the Georgia Police Corps. Glyn designed and implemented a scenario program that provided realistic training in a controlled environment to better prepare new officers for duty. The scenarios conducted comprised a variety of law enforcement duties to include officer/citizen contacts, vehicle stops, criminal investigation, and the use of deadly and non-deadly force. The program Glyn designed became nationally recognized and was a template for all Police Corps states.

Over time, Glyn had the opportunity to obtain Certification as a Force Analyst from the Force Science Institute (2013) and certification as a Use of Force Instructor from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (2016). This led to Glyn’s design, coordination, and implementation of the Use of Force Instructor Training program, the Use of Force Investigations program, and the Tactical Diffusion Strategies program, which is offered through the Georgia Public Safety Training Center.

Currently, Glyn’s duties at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center comprise of managing the Special Services Section, which is comprised of the Use of Force Unit, Crisis Intervention Team Unit, School Resource Officer Unit, and the Gang Unit.

In 2021, Blueline Training and Consulting (Oklahoma) brought Glyn on as an adjunct instructor to bring use of force investigations training to that region.

In 2022, Glyn began his own consulting business entitled GL Corbitt Training and Consulting. Glyn provides consultation, expert analysis, and testimony for attorneys and prosecutors, and provides training on various use of force applications and use of force investigation.

Glyn has presented as a guest lecturer at various events, such as the National Police Corps Staff Development School, Mantracker Public Safety Training Conference, Peace Officers Association of Georgia Training Conference (POAG), Georgia Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (GALEFI), and the National Organization for Black Law Enforcement (NOBLE).
